Bryant is a beautiful Appendix Quarter Horse whose Rogue Valley neighbors noticed his neglect. After Jackson County Animal Control intervened, he was brought to the Equamore sanctuary in 2007. As you can see in this photo, he was terribly thin, and his hip bones were completely devoid of hair and full of scabs.

Despite his poor condition, Bryant eagerly went into his trailer and nickered to each person who came to greet him at Equamore. “He’s such a gentle guy,” says board vice president Ruth Kennedy.
Nearly all of Bryant’s body hair fell out within three weeks—a sign of how close he was to starvation. Yet with good nutrition and lots of love, he now has a coat of silky copper, and he remains affectionate and responsive to the wonderful humans at Equamore who have helped him recover. Sweet and friendly, Bryant loves visitors, and he especially enjoys being petted behind his silky ears.
